In architectural terms, an arcade is a passageway linked by a series of arches or vaults supported by columns. Eventually, businesses and amusements lined the arched passageways. Later, the term arcade came to be associated with any establishment that housed various entertainments, mostly in the form of coin operated machines that played games, told fortunes or even provided titillation in the form of peep shows. These were the penny arcades of the past. I welcome you now to my Arcade, and fear not - no pennies are needed.Within find amusements of every sort - movies and music, art and books, friends and favorite vendors! The Arcade is still under construction, but is open for business! Leave your troubles at the doors, and enjoy. |
